He got into the character when he created “The Penguin”
Narrative
After the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, is playing a game to take over Gotham’s criminal underworld. Colin Farrell fought hard to create his own version of the Penguin in Batman (2022), but failed. However, in his own series, the character is depicted as a casual tobacco user who loves cigars.
Farrell STEALS this series
The DC Studios logo is on a rainy Gotham alley. An umbrella falls and the logo is replaced with the Warner Bros. logo, shown by Graham Norton et al.: Lady Gaga / Demi Moore / Colin Farrell / Richard Ayoade / Jack Savoretti (2024).
There’s nothing about the character that even hints of Farrell
He’s impressive. The NY accent, the swaying and limping, the attitude: you’d swear it was a different person. The amazing prosthetics are very realistic and add to the character.
It’s well-written and exciting
The show is bold and graphic. There’s nothing cartoonish about it. It’s a great equivalent of Christopher Nolan’s Batman.
HBO has a legitimate shot
In fact, I’d say it blows the Marvel line out of the water. I hope it can get a season 2, but I know it’s limited. Too bad.
